Attractions of the local area include the world famous CSIRO Radio Telescope, the Henry Parkes Centre, the Parkes Aviation museum, and the Peaks Hills Gold Mine Experience. It is also home to the Elvis Festival which is held every year in the second week in January, coinciding with Elvis Presley’s birthday.

Parkes is located five hours drive west of Sydney, two hours from Bathurst and 80 minutes south of Dubbo – home of the Western Plains Zoo.
